Sybren Renema, Sawing the long hot sad yellow days up into planks and nailing them to something

Sybren Renema, Sawing the long hot sad yellow days up into planks and nailing them to something
28th & 29th of July, 2012.

This exhibition focuses on Renema's interest in the passing of time and history through the appropriation of remnants from Britain's Victorian past.
Presented are two recent works dealing with the entity of the museum as mausoleum.
In collaboration with Timmy van Zoelen,  You Took The Part That Once Was My Heart, a 160-page publication dealing with historic tree stumps from the life of David Livingstone, was produced in conjunction with an installation presented at the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow during the GI Festival earlier this year.
Sybren Renema (NL, 1988) is a Dutch artist, writer and musician based in Glasgow.  Renema completed his Masters' in Fine Arts degree at the Glasgow School of Art in 2011. Recent presentations of his artistic practice include a residency at Kunsthuis Syb in 2010 in collaboration with Timmy van Zoelen, an Amsterdam based artist currently participating in de Ateliers post graduate program.
